Overview
City Science is the digital delivery partner for the Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan. Through this partnership, City Science provides advice on the digitisation of local plans and technical support including the provision of Cadence 360.
Scope
The Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan is a joint plan between Plymouth City Council, South Hams District Council and West Devon Borough Council. The three councils have joined together to create their local plan which looks at every aspect of how the region will progress over the next 20 years. The government’s white paper “Planning for the Future” set out an aspiration to increasingly harness digital technology across the planning landscape to make it much easier to access and understand information about specific planning proposals. In this context City Science set out six core areas where digitisation could support the various stages of plan-making.

As digital partner, City Science is leading a number of work-streams, working with a supply-chain of technology partners to support the digitisation of each area of plan-making. Cadence 360 is being used to support improvements to core data, digital area profiles and site evidence and analysis while other work-streams are addressing improvements to other areas of the process.

Outcomes
As a result of this partnership, City Science is continuously enhancing Cadence 360 so that it can support the core needs of digital local planning and working with other innovators to ensure seamless capture of other datasets such as engagement and monitoring.
