City Science commissioned to deliver Southwark Electric Vehicle Strategy

28 April 2023

As a business with roots within the borough, we are delighted to announce that City Science has been commissioned to develop an electric vehicle (EV) strategy for the London Borough of Southwark.

This strategy aims to enable residents and local businesses to make the switch from petrol and diesel to EVs, by providing a central strategic vision for the roll out of charge points over the next three years (2023-2026). This strategy will support the delivery of council owned policies and plans including Southwark’s Council Delivery Plan that commits to delivery 1,000 public charge points by 2026.

We will be taking a borough wide approach encompassing the range, locations and timescales for EV roll out, whilst also identifying funding and delivery mechanisms. Our approach will align with the council’s strategic priority to firstly promote sustainable travel modes, followed by supporting fleet electrification. We will also ensure the approach maximises use of council owned land that includes council housing and public parks.

We will work collaboratively with the Council and key stakeholders to determine the most efficient way to meet Southwark’s current and future EV charging needs.
